Build Summary 

The Ram interiors have been way ahead of their time for years and this 2023 Longhorn Limited is no exception. The saddle brown leather and other luxury adornments definitely make this vehicle feel like you are meant to spend hours in the cab in comfort. Ram has finally stopped using the two-tone grandpa paint on all of these, and the exterior has a very tasteful amount of chrome to match the shimmer of this high-end black paint. But SoCo Couldn’t just leave well enough alone on this one. 

The customer came in with big dreams and big aspirations for big wheels! He decided 24s in chrome would be a great idea to build around. For those unfamiliar with the SoCo Process, we like to have customers in for build appointments where we can discuss anything about your truck. But I digress…

With these big wheels, the customer wanted to fit 37s under this truck. We wanted to do this with minimal fender gap so we enlisted the help of the Cognito Motorsports 3” level. This kit rides incredible and that is because of what comes with the kit.

First, I always recommend with these solid axle trucks that you find a kit that includes new coil springs. The kit maker can valve their shocks to handle the additional suspension travel, can accommodate small bump compliance better with the new valving, and can dial in body roll to ensure the truck hunkers into the corner on a high speed on-ramp rather than rolls. 

The second component that I recommend to replace with a lift or leveling kit is the track bar. This kit also comes with it! Those that have chased a “death wobble” through these trucks will tell you that often the track bar is the culprit. And equally often, the track bar is starting to fail at a comically low mileage amount. I know I have seen them begin to fail as early as 25,000 miles. It is important to get that factory track bar out in favor of a greasable/serviceable one ASAP.

This kit also comes with the Fox Monotube Internal Floating piston shocks. These oppose motion more than factory, and bounce back to their natural position much faster. What this means is a more dialed ride and far less deflection than you experience in the factory suspension system.

Without further ado…

The wheels are the 24” KG1 Forged Vegas in chrome. KG1 is a wheel company that we use a ton in our builds. They compete very well in finish quality in comparison to the other forged truck wheels in the industry, but often times are about $1,000 less expensive for a set than the competition. The 24s fit perfect out the box, and they were able to use the spacer/adapter to get this truck to be a 10-lug. Those lugs are covered with spiked caps which really sets off the look of this truck. 

This customer also wanted to fit 37s underneath, and the 24” wheel limited our options some. We usually have to opt for a few brands of tires that are dedicated to builders with obscure sizes, but those tires can be miserable to balance, or daily drive. Toyo had the sizing we needed in the Toyo Open Country RT Trail. They were the 37x13.50R24, and they are a dream to commute on vs. many of the available options in those sizes. They also look really cool and have an interesting sidewall to set off the offroad look of your build. It is not only an offroad look, but has the performance to match. 

The 37s are a bit of a squeeze on these dually fitments, so we opted for the bumper spacer to bring that forward and allow these tires the space needed to not rub. These spacers will bring that bumper a half inch forward which can make all the difference with these 37s.
