It is most often that we see 3-6” lift kits come into the shop, so when we get a lift this big, we really sink our teeth into it. This customer came in from our neighboring state in New Mexico, and we were really excited to get the SoCo treatment beyond our namesake of Southern Colorado. This customer saw us on YouTube and of course had some dreams for his brand new, off the lot, 2024 GMC Sierra 3500 AT4. He wanted the biggest and baddest truck in his hometown.
The Cognito brand was tip of the tongue for this customer as he had seen a ton of our lifts using this brand. Cognito is probably the top rated brand when it comes to building GM Trucks. There are very few kits that will provide the ride quality of a Cognito kit; whether you are going up two or twelve inches.
This customer opted for the 10” lift kit from Cognito. We upgraded it with the Fox PSRR 2.0” shocks. The RR indicates a remote reservoir which helps pack more fluid into these shocks, and allows the engineers a lot more freedom for specific valving and behaviors of the shock; which is needed in a shock this long. We also went with the heavy duty tie-rod and centerlink kit. This is a part that will get eaten up by wear and tear; even on the stock tires and suspension.
The customer opted for some 24s to give his truck that big show truck look. These wheels are the 24x12 Fuel Darkstar in the Gunmetal Grey Color. The offset is a -44 which is within a typical range for 12 wide wheels to accommodate these kind of truck builds. We wrapped those in the Toyo Open Country RT Trail in a 37x13.50R24. This Toyo offering is an absolute lifesaver for us. Generally, builders are forced into a much lower tier tire as you get into the 24s. You also get the timeless looks of the Toyo RT tread. All around, this is one of my favorite tires to wrap around big wheels.
This kit could accommodate a larger tires, but a lot of customers will opt for minimal trimming at first. It is understandable to be hesitant about chopping up a new truck.
It is also worth noting that we took many of the badges off of this truck to really expose as much of this Storm Grey color as possible.
Take a look at our SoCo portfolio and see that we can knock your build out of the park; whether we are going level, all the way to your show truck build. We serve all of Colorado, and are available to serve any of out out-of-state friends, family, and fans! Give SoCo a shout!
